About the event

Welcome to our event! We are Blue Earth Organization, a youth and women led environmental group focused on nature restoration and working on climate change mitigation.

The international day of the mangrove is celebrated in July every year. The main aim is to raise awareness about the importance of these precious ecosytems as 'unique. special and vulnerable' and to promote their use and conservation.

For the last 2 years we have worked tirelessly to restore a mangrove forest in Miritini that has faced deforesation due to development. So far we have planted over 12,000 seedlings, all our seedlings are sourced from the nearby indigenous community who have been hard hit by the pandemic and climate change. Our volunteers are youth from all backgrounds with a passion to transform our city and planet to a greener, equitable and healthy place.

Although a small group, we pride ourselves in being the reference that positive transformative change is possible and a green economy is not out of reach for us!

Our events are engaging, fun and muddy! Science has proven over and over again how green spaces are important - our mangrove planting event does just that - immerse yourself in nature, whilst giving back, learning from the indigenous community how vital it is to protect the mangroves and playing with mud!

See you on Saturday, 23rd July!
